Assignment Frenzy #4: Voting

Two questions: One, how did you make this? I mean, did you have to paint every frame by hand or was there some kind of shortcut involved? And two, would it be possible to get a version that can be used as an overlay, or is there something about the way it works that would prevent that?

I used a program to generate the effect. it's fairly easy once you figured out a good quality/filesize balance. did have to perform some color edits on the frames tho.

and yeah I could make an overlay for sure. feel free to make one yourself if you're fluent with the vmt format.

Well, that was ridiculously easy. It even works better underwater than the explosion decal, in fact. (Or is that just a natural downside to decals compared to overlays? I'm not up on these things exactly.) Now I just have to find an excuse.
