There are alot of people that aren't gonna win, and some of those people have made fantastic new artwork. There are even entirely new themes, such as whark's for example. But only one person is going to win. I suggest that when the contest is over all us losers work together to refine and expand the custom asset sets put them all together in one pack, and release them to the public. It would not only be a shame to waste all those assets, but it would also be fun to make a model or texture or two for other people's themes :) I'm sure many people were planning on releasing their stuff should they lose anyway.

Whatcha guys think?

More than one pack methinks. There are multple space entries, wharks theme and others? Pointless putting space and...whatever wharks is together, but I think most of the authors plan to release their own models in their own packs anyway.

I think very few people would want all of them, so having them released individually would probably be better anyway. (and I'm sure some will get used again in another map by the authors themselves)

I dunno, having a generic "Artpass Pack" Filled with all the models/materials would be nice for those of us who wouldn't mind downloading them all at once, cos I'd be getting them all anyway just incase I ever find a use for something that I may not have seen.

I'd suggest making each theme a separate download, but relating them all by title. So we'd have...

Whark's Artpass Arabian Theme!
Spud's Artpass Winery Theme!
Mr. Happy's Artpass Space Theme!
and so on.

Yes, they'd all have to have exclamation points. Every title is ninety-five times cooler with an exclamation point at the end.

Whark's Artpass Arabian Theme!
Spud's Artpass Winery Theme!
Mr. Happy's Artpass Space Theme!
And then one that is "Every Artpass Theme!" for people that want them all.

Look, I solved all the problems.

Maybe release them as theme packs (ie, me and Mr. happy do a space one, the arctic themes do one, etc...)

I think the next thing like the swamp pack should be a space theme pack.

The only reason to split them into separate units would be to help mappers find what they want, and to avoid major style-clashes. End-users won't care either way since the assets will be packed into the BSP.

I reckon we should make a bit of a hoo hah about this, there's so much great work been done that it deserves a proper fanfair.

How about the Artpass Collection Pack?
You could have a week where you do a valve style update releasing a pack a day so everyone's work get's properly showcased and a set of separate downloads as well as a full collected download.

Good idea?

But wouldn't we already know what will be in the packs...
I'd find it a bit of an annoyance to have to wait to add some props into my map until a pack was released, especialy seeing as the author could jsut release it anyway. Maybe if you do a page that links to all the theme packs on a new page showing off the content.

I think it's more important to organize custom content by what it is rather than the contest it was made for. In a six months, nobody is going to be searching for "artpass content" but they'll likely be searching for "ruins," "trees," "mansion," "arabian," etc.

Incidently, I'll be releasing my content after the contest. Several folks have PMed me, being especially interested in the textures.
