From what I saw of the map from a test with relatively even teams is that even then the one that holds mid should usually push all the way to spawn. Attacking back up there just seemed too difficult as well as too open - you're completely exposed on the way there and Soldiers and Scouts just flanked everyone, probably even more once they start learning the map. And then when you get to mid you'll lose 1-2 players to their Sniper too because of the sightlines across mid so you may want to at least move that door near where the shed (you can go onto via ladder) is. Raising the spawn is probably not a bad idea either.

I just saw these bunch of posts, and they gave me the motivation again to finish the map. I will start working on it again in August, after I return from Italy.

Just kicked off the detailing! Started with the spawnroom, it's not done yet but I thought I'd just post a first screenshot.

Even using the concrete wall with dirt on the bottom for the bottom part would help.

You may want to rethink the wooden lampposts as well. The ones in the middle seem redundant with the lights over the doors, the one on the left in particular is just lighting up a blank wall, and the ones by the fence might be better off replaced with the kind that attach to the tops of fence poles.

I was busy the last 2 days, and I forgot to post this screenshot a few days ago:

The BLU spawn, and the buildings between the spawn yard and the actual fighting area are more or less finished, both outside and inside. There are still some bugs, and I'll be changing the current lampposts.

Yeah I'll be using more granary style buildings in further detailing.

Just realised I still need to find a name for the map. Dabp told me I could use Midnight but I am still searching for other alternatives. Right now the main themes about the map are: Night, snowy and oldindustrialbuidlingswithsecretspytech. :p Name suggestions are always welcome!

^ Changed that upper route the straight few all the way down the stairs is gone. Will it make harder for soldiers or snipers to camp upstairs as they don't see when someone is coming.

On the name: so far I have Midnight, Polar and Arctic. There is already a map named Arctic but I asked the owner if I could possibly use the name. However if you come up with any other good ones, feel free to tell me!

In the meantime I've also decided a few things:
- Most likely the map will be called koth_arctic, Altaco told me I could use the name
- Haters gonna hate, but I might leave the lampposts for now. I don't really think they are that out of place.

I feel the 45 degree angle building in those screenshots seems a bit out of place. Maybe its just the top part, try taking that out and see if it improves the look.

The detailing is kind of done, I'll be copying it to the RED side this afternoon. I'm not sure how the fps on the map is, I'm running bad on the fps, but also on other valve maps. :(
