I finally got around to finishing my ticonderoga, and handing it off to a skinner, so I figured I'd get back to work on this.

It's probably gonna take a bit longer than my boat, all because I'm going fucking detail crazy on this (even though they don't show up too well in source, I might use this in UE later on), because I need to learn how to do this sub-d on a much more complicated object which requires more in the way of details.

Additionally, I dropped the seaking, in favour of a V-22 Osprey ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-22_Osprey ) which I realize may not be completely cannon in tf2. However, my personal design philosophy is to bend cannon, to make way for cool, and in my opinion, the Osprey is a much more interesting object.

Anyway, I just got started on this again, there's a bit more done than just the wheels, but it's nothing that I'm really ready to show.

Less wheels more blades. It's a helicopter not a bike goddamnit

I like cramming what I already have with small unnoticeable details ok!

Anyway, I forgot to mention this before, but the Osprey isn't quite a helicopter. Generally I refer to it as a hybrid (since it effectively acts as both a helicopter and a plane), but I've been informed that the correct term is VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing). Anyway, if I'm feeling ambitious today, the weather continues to be shit, and nothing else comes up, I'm hoping on doing some work on the engines(Or more!) sometime today.

fantastic direction to go!
tilt rotors have been around since the 1930's in some form or another, so it fits with the cannon
and if it doesn't fit the cannon, just get a bigger cannon.

Blatant necrobump.

I'd still really like a good helicopter with animated blades, is anyone interested in making one? I'd gladly produce several skins for it if anyone did.

EDIT: Some retro helicopter reference material in the hope it will kindle some sort of interest in the modellers out there:

I just remembered that Treythepunkid made a helicopter model for his artpass; maybe you could bother him about that?
