It would be beyond awesome if I had an animated 60's style helicopter for my current project, as the forward point has a control tower and helipad. I would love to have a helicopter fly by every now and then to add effect...

    Please?

im also looking for a helicopter
the one i had in mind fits visual style better than anything else ive found from that era

if anyone is intrested in modeling it, it sounds like several of us could use one

    it would be this one:

    Obligatory GET TO DA CHOPPA.

Seriously, make two versions of it, so there's one in the Skybox you can use. :D

i had one ive been working on a bit but have had issues getting it from maya into hammer. it looks like i can get the model in and animated but the textures aren't showing up. the paths seem to point to the right places so i havent figured it out yet. but i just moved and need to get some things unpacked before i can try again. im sure i can figure it out and just have to look it over again.

i am also planning on adding some details and logo's and skins for each time since this was for a map i did of a cliffside helipad that im also still working on. but if youre interested, ill start on this again first once i get my stuff set up

its smaller than the one above but its somethin! haha i could possibly model that too.

I might be beating dead horse, but have you tried:

and if it's a .qc issue, I can give you some help as well.

Doesn't really look very 'TF2' to me to be honest. Looks a bit too modern IMO.

I second the request for a chopper though.

i also could use a helicopter to make things a little prettier., it seems a chopper would really benefit the tf2 mappers.

the seaking will make a good copter, and fits in to the time frame (tho i think just barely), and, tho it is small, (9 ppl max) i think it will be a great addition!

    cant wait to see it!

I was a little unsure about the timeframe, but, quite honestly, I really hated the helicopters posted in this thread, and couldn't really find any nice looking ones from nam :s

    Anyway

I already settled on the seaking, though I'm not gonna do much on it until I finish my ticonderoga, and a few hats I owe some friends...

I finally got around to finishing my ticonderoga, and handing it off to a skinner, so I figured I'd get back to work on this.

It's probably gonna take a bit longer than my boat, all because I'm going fucking detail crazy on this (even though they don't show up too well in source, I might use this in UE later on), because I need to learn how to do this sub-d on a much more complicated object which requires more in the way of details.

Additionally, I dropped the seaking, in favour of a V-22 Osprey ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-22_Osprey ) which I realize may not be completely cannon in tf2. However, my personal design philosophy is to bend cannon, to make way for cool, and in my opinion, the Osprey is a much more interesting object.

Anyway, I just got started on this again, there's a bit more done than just the wheels, but it's nothing that I'm really ready to show.
