    alley

Month ago i finished my first released map - mvm_destruct. Mann vs machine isn't type of map I like, the reason for it is that it is too simple and i rarely played this gamemmode. To be honest the only reason I was working on it is the contest.

So my second released map gonna have '5 control points' gamemode.
I wanted to create it for a long time, so now i try to do my best working on it and want to make it not only good-looking, but also intesresting to play.

cp_alley gonna have unique design(and i'm not gonna tell anyone about it), so there is some problems i met because of it:
-It needs to be open, no factories.
-Enemy's battlefield needs to be mirorred, not rotated on 180, as it do in badlands, granary, freight..
-I need new models(windows, doors, roof, curtains). I'm not 3d modeler, that's why it is the biggest problem.

One last thing. While working on this map, I often worry that i'm doing something wrong, so I need your help, guys, to tell me what do you think about changes i'll be making. ;)

My first question is Does it looks worthwhile or it's better to start it from the beginning(replan gameplay)?

Your biggest mistake is that you are doing something, that is too big for your.

You are new to mapping an cp5 isn't really the best game type to start.
Competitive will likely not play it, and cp5 sucks in publics.
Also, it is uncertain, that someone is doing models for a new mapper.

The car prop is not very good for gameplay,
and have you ever seen it in valve maps (in gameplay space).

    And about your unique design...
I don't want to be anti creative.
But special designs from new mappers tend to be bad.
Don't have to be in this case.
I just would advise to start with something proved.

iirc I heard somewhere that "mirrored 5-cp is bad for comp" but I can't remember where.

cp_croissant by Arnold is mirrored, and it's getting played a lot.

However, you are right. It's because weapons are right handed.
So the team with right corners, have a little advantage.

Silly BloodHound, comp players don't use viewmodels!

The bullet/projectile origin is still right.
Or did I just missed the irony?

Mirrored maps have teams switch sides at half time.
