3D Skybox Problem

I see your problem. The 3d skybox needs to have a cutout space for where the normal map is supposed to be. So lets say from border to border, your normal map is 64 units. In the center of your 3d box should be a hole that is 64 units across, X and Y. Definitely delete the skycam from the normal map. The weird graphics you're getting are the 2 maps overlapping each other. I should also point out that everything in the 3d skybox should be 1/16 normal size. It gets scaled up in compiling, and is what allows such vast landscapes w/out taxing resources. Once your 3d box is made, hit ctrl+m and click the scale button. All the values should be .0625. Hope you get it working :)

Whenever I hit carve with it, it deletes the whole skybox floor. :(

Though it doesn't happen often, DJive is kindof wrong here. The vertex tool is not needed. If you need to make a quick hole, door, etc; you can use the cut tool for basic squares. Though he's right about not carving stuff. 3d skybox 101, in a few basic steps;

First select the borders of your map, brushes only. Copy/paste. Now around those borders create the 3d skybox. This means the floor of the box is underneath the pasted geometry, and the floor that people see is level with the pasted one. Add sky_camera to the center. Delete the pasted geometry and resize everything. voila. Spaceweasles made a good tutorial here; http://tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=116
