I got that once when I had too much other stuff running on my machine. (My virus scanner is particularly greedy about system resources.) I shut down as much as I could, and after I restarted Hammer things behaved.

It means what it says. Your computer doesn't have enough resources to run smoothly. Both the valve maps and my prop library load up enormous amounts of data (primarily materials for world and models) when you open them, so if you don't have enough RAM you'll end up getting that message.

Either turn off any other programs that are using significant amounts of memory, don't leave valve/library maps open (you'll need to restart Hammer after closing them), or... buy more RAM. :/

Thanks, I'll try and only have one map open at one time, but I wouldnt say I have a bad PC, it has a quad core thingy not that I really know what that means but I know it is good :D. It seems to happen even when I only have one map open, and my map doesnt have loads of props.

Note that when you get the message it doesnt mean you cant load multiple maps. Its just your performance that goes down quite alot as instead of using RAM it will have to use the harddrive which is alot slower.

Also, that message isnt related to the processor at all so quad core doesnt mean anything if you only have 512mb RAM. Its purely about RAM memory.
