I'm attempting to follow the instructions here: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/TF2/Setup_Gates

problem is the directory: props_gameplay/door_grate001_top.mdl
isnt there!
It gives me an error display on my level! I just started using HAMMER and this is really frustrating. Somebody PLEASE help! I tried searching for door, and grate in the model viewer but I couldnt find anything. I am trying to create a prop_dynamic and not a prop_static. So I'm not sure whats going wrong. I've tried running TF2 before opening Hammer and that still didnt fix my problem. Assistance would be greatly appreciated!

have you tried verifying your gcf files?
right click on the game in steam and hit properties and verify game files

Did you create a prop_dynamic_ornament accidentally?

When you open the model viewer do you see any models or do you see a big red ERROR where the model should be displayed?

Is your valve folder in C / program files / steam?

For some reason mine was installed in C/ and it couldn't find any models, so I copied it all into C/programfiles and it worked fine.

its the file path on that tut, its outdated or some think, becuase if you copy and paste it it wont work, it will come up and an error texture...
but if you find it in model veiwer(same path and name)

props_gameplay/door_grate001_frame.mdl (you cant copy and paste that in for some reson)

I have models. It appears that I dont have "props_gameplay" at ALL.

And yeah its in the right folder. And yes I'm running it in Team Fortress 2 version.

Is it actually entered into the entity like that or as models/props_gameplay/door_grate001_top.mdl ? Because you need that leading directory.

I actually pasted this into the world model area in the object properties and it WORKED! But I tried to find out WHERE by browsing and the model was displayed. But I want to know why I cant find it by browsing manually. =/

UPDATE!

Well apparently the gate is showing up in the model browser. But nothing ELSE from props_gameplay is.

Grab the focus and press alt+printscreen, then paste it into an image program. That might let us be able to figure out why you're having filter issues.

2 things i can suggest:
get the props library vmf (downloadable off of this site). it has all props already placed in it, so you can just copy/paste into your own level.

the other thing: if you can't get the top model to work, just get a bottom model and rotate it by 180 degrees. they are practically identical to each other.
