Suggestion: "Impromptu Planner" group users

Harribo suggested I post this idea here, so I have done.

After applying for server admin (which I saw as an opportunity to run impromptus when necessary, not manage a server) I was obviously swiftly declined (and to good reason, to prestige's dismay). What did come from my valiant effort however, is a suggestion that there should be some middle form of group member who's been around for a while, that can run impromptus.

Basically, my idea works in a few different ways:

1. The two admin types would be merged from gold star and silver star into both gold stars. You could potentially have a clear marking of who is what, but the silver stars would pretty much be group members with the ability to change maps, set next maps, run votes etc on the server, and post group announcements for impromptus.

I guess this could add the amount of impromptus possible, while not having lunatics such as I in front of a huge panel of buttons, with plans to only use three (It's sad my maturity is often linked to a low-level of brain-power and intellectual power which isn't true, but this thread isn't about that).

2. A bot would be given silver star, or a bot for each 'impromptu planner' as I'll refer to this/these person/s as. Of course groups only allow permissions to be changed for individual ranks as opposed to individual people, so this would be a work-around for that.

Somewhere on the site, or possibly steam-chatting the bot as their assigned user (provided the second method was used, if not just a whitelist of people) would make that bot post a group announcement or event with the listed details.

Maybe I've been out of the loop for too long, but I thought that's what silvers were? I thought their purpose was to be a non-admin that can fire off announcements, after which whoever intended to run the test can do so (because lots of people have mapchange power).

I've always been under the impression that they just used stars for differentiation. Gold stars being plain site admins or both, whereas silver stars being plain server admins.

Harribo made it sound to me (I'm not saying this is directly what he said) as though they were pretty much the same, just different colours in the group.

Server admins as of now have powers to ban, kick and do whatever with the server, I believe. What I was proposing is someone who pretty much just runs announcements and changes the maps, possibly serving as a low-level moderator as well.

Silver star here: That's what i do. I also have VIP powers, and server access. I don't see why we need an extra level: we've got enough admins, we run enough impromptus. If the rate of testing during the contest was too low, that's because i was doing exams. I gave plenty of warning for this: it's not my fault nobody was VIP.

There are plenty of VIPs, but VIPs cant announce. Maybe since VIPs can host impromptus they should be able to announce impromptus. It's been a while since I've done any group management on steam but is it possible to give ONLY announcement power to VIP members?

A) Probably not. And B) When was the last time you had everything for an imp except an announcement?

Two months ago if I recall correctly. In general I have no issue with how things are at the moment, I don't think I've had to wait more than 5-10 minutes for one of the admins to respond to my messages. Thanks to Egan, Harribo, Swordfish and Prestige for putting up with it :)
