First, Leminnes, your "response" annoys me. I brought up a very specific complaint, and all you can do is link to a big Obama-cheering site of randomly-presented blurbs. I thought we were going to "talk politics" instead of "give link to random talking-point generator". >95% of those randomly-presented one-liners are completely irrelevant to my complaint.
Second, that site isn't really stuff
Obama as a specific politician has accomplished: When "Obama signs law X" that often says a lot more in favor of the Democratic
legislators who got Bill X through the legislature than Obama having the easy choice of not-vetoing it. (As opposed to my complaints, which are almost entirely in Obama's area of influence.)
............ But hey, let's take a look, maybe it's not that bad.
The first blurb I could find ("Issued executive order to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay") links to this January 2009 article,
Obama signs order to close Guantanamo Bay facility. Schedule: "within a year"... So, about 1.75 years later,
let's see how that turned out... Oh, wait,
it's still open.
So the talking-point is
technically true, because he did
sign an executive order, but why the heck is that being given the Mission Accomplished treatment, eh?
Not to mention that even if Guantanamo were closed, it wouldn't
mean anything if all the same crappy practices simply moved to, say, Bagram AFB. (Hint, hint.) I can only hope the rest of the site isn't just as cherry-picked and misleading.
