I spent a few hours on the artpass map a couple weeks ago but have abandoned it due to it being crunch time over at Black Mesa. :O

I just thought I would post what I did manage to complete in the time I spent on it as nothing inspires me more than seeing other peoples level design. (yes I am obsessed with verticality in my maps) I might come back to it in a little more later but I cant promise anything. Also there are a few maps on this site that are looking pretty good, keep up the good work.

Also ignore the fact that the cubemaps refused to build for some odd reason

So, this means that Black Mesa is coming out soon!

Exciting!

The textures in your third screenshot are more of roof textures, so they dont really look that good on walls, especially on such a large face.

Surly thats why its called "metal/wall017" right? :p

Valve dudes are no dummies, they wouldnt make a 2048x2048 texture for roofs.

When has it not been crunch time on Black Mesa?

Good start, but way too many vents, doesn't make a lick of sense (hl has a lot i know!)

Yeah I agree its too many, but do keep this in mind:

If I go re-work it, I will remove some of the vents

They use wall and roof interchangeably. Most of the Alpine roofs are wall textures.

Definitely remove the vents if you get the chance. It looks like, judging from your inspiration pic, it might be more profitable to rip the vent texture, make an environment texture from it, then just create a brush and apply the environment texture. It'd also help prevent repetition.
