Another classic I remember playing as a kid on Quake III. The newest version of the mod will release soon onto source, cant wait to shoot some robots and dinos. Anyway, thought about doing this awhile back. Its like a mix of arena and ctf.

Jailbreak works as follows.

When you die you are jailed.
First team to capture all of the other team wins.
You can release your teammates by taking the point in the enemies base.
You can also escape to freedom by solving puzzles to get out. (Not Implamented Yet)

these "puzzles" wouldn't happen to be like surf maps or jump maps would they, if so, man this is gunna be such a downer. I'm an unreal mapper as well and did jailbreak for it, great concept just never took off, i'll be following this as well, good luck.

That sure is a pretty pink checkerboard on that there capture point, friend!

PROTIP: Try env_cubemap entities.

Good idea, I played jailbreak maps in Counter Strike, I'd love to see it in Team Fortress 2.

Dammit. I just started my jailbreak map.

Oh well, we can work together now. :p

How are you going to make it so it knows when the whole team is jailed?

I have no idea (I'm answering because I'm smart with this)

But the jailbreak maps I've played on CS:S had 1 team start off in jail cells, 1 person per cell, and the other team were the wardens.

If a player reached the escape point, prisoners won.

Nah it's not that kind. It's essentially arena because the goal is wiping out the other team, but players can "respawn" if there team frees them. So it's kind of like dodgeball. Or something.

Anyway I had an idea to make it so the jails were in themselves control points, only the people in them cap a control point for the other team, if that's possible. So the more prisoners the faster it caps. That way people can't grief and hide.

Ohhh.

But still, keep what I said in mind.

It would make an excellent map.

If you could really capture the prison feel (dank lighting, grungy look, etc), it would be an excellent top quality map.

You could make 1 team start in jail cells, and make it like 2 people to a cell, and the other team would start in like 2 areas down from the cells, trying to prevent the prisoners from reaching the escape point.

Dark and grungy don't work in TF2. Plus I doubt you could get a CSS type JB map in TF2 because the CSS ones revolve around picking up weapons, and TF2 ones you always have the same weapon.

True, but you could just limit the classes players can select based on the team, like the Guards can be like, for example, Soldiers, and the Prisoners could be Demos.

Of course you can change it around to your liking.

It eliminates the clusterfuck that comes from having a good jail map filled with players running around as 9 different classes.

As well, I'm sure a simple Google search or check-up at AlliedMods.net could find a weapon-drop plugin for TF2 (Source Mod)
