Apophysis is great, but you have to spend a lot of time to get it looking good.

Yeah... this is very true, I know the stuff I make is pretty basic, I just tend to play around with it at random until something pops out that I think looks good.

The main reason I do it is because I tend to prefer abstract backgrounds for my monitors and it seems that I can never really find the perfect Dual monitor background online. So I just play around with Apophysis until something interesting pops up and then render it at a larger size.
