I'm currently making some custom signs (overlays) in Photoshop (CS5 Extended) and I want to include 2 small images on my sign; a sentry and a dispenser. I'm following this tutorial; "[Tutorial] Making a Poster Overlay" Here's an example of what I'm doing. The area in between the top text and bottom text is what I have to work with, space-wise. The color required is offered on this color palette which is used in the tutorial I've linked to above: ------------------------------- Here's an example of what I'm looking for, sentry-wise. Same style as this spray found on FPSBanana, but just tan (1st row, 1st color (aka 3rd color from the left if you count the blank spaces before it) As for the dispenser, something similar to this would be nice, except not a side-view of the dispenser. Thank you to anyone who can provide these for me.
In order for me to attempt to trace them, I need 2 good quality images: - Level 1 Sentry, sideways - Dispenser, front view, level doesn't matter And I'd need them in the right size to fit on my sign:
You can resize things images, you know. Start TF2. Build things against a background that'll be easy to trace against. Take some screenshots. Trace, resize.
Also isn't there a font or something with vector silhouettes of all the weapons, that they use for the kill notices?
Or use HLMV. It's faster and you can get higher-res pictures than those from the Wiki and it's faster than making/compiling/running a map.
HLMV always gives me lots of non-antialiased jaggies and an annoying semitransparent "fiery" environment map.
Well I finished my signs. Even made 2 more signs for this CTF area I'm including in my new map which'll be set in a foresty area with 2 sniper towers and 2 bases with intel (all part of my new achievement map). That Quick Selection tool (what I thought was a "selection wizard") in Photoshop can be a pain to use sometimes, especially when you want to highlight a thin area of an image and it ends up selecting the entire image, causing you to have to start over. Regardless, it's still very useful and I'm beginning to like using it. But how stupid am I for not realizing that I could've got perfect images from wiki.teamfortress.com? (and I'm a member of that Wiki!) Here's my finished product. Nothing too fancy, no stains or rips in the poster. I've screenshotted each poster and then put the red and blue versions together in MS Paint. The actual overlays aren't both posters together, don't worry Now that I'm getting into this overlay thing, I'm starting to think of other things I could make for my map, poster-wise. Hell, I've got a ton of nice fonts for TF2. I've got the 4 from the tutorial, and I've got TF2, TF2 Build, TF2 Professor (various actual TF2 fonts). I'm gonna start planning out more things
Wrong you are sir. On the wiki, they are SVG's. (scalable vector graphics for those not familiar with the format.)
Also, never use the TF2 fonts inside TF2, seeing as its artistic direction has developed into this oxymoronical situation. Stick to fonts from the 60's. Here's a good reference (if you manage to sift through all the hippy stylized stuff )
