They still didn't update it to fit the new Steam theme.
So, I'm not getting something. Source Engine 2009 is Left 4 Dead 2, isn't it? So how come (A) the Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools haven't been merged into this, and (B) most of the Orange Box products are listed under it? In fact, Episode Two is listed twice in mine: under 2007 and 2009.
EDIT: 2D views in Portal are still broken
Amen brother, amen.
Kinda related, but why haven't they fixed L4D1/L4D2's Hammer load time? It really sucks when it crashes or you have to reopen it for some other reason. I haven't heard a reason on it before, but I might have missed something.
Aside from that, they have this sorted so strangely.
So what does this DO for us exactly?
The L4D's SDK's are separate due to the fact they are both under a different file system than the rest of the source engine games.
Hmm. And they're probably not going to bother porting the games to the new filesystem, are they? Seeing how that would essentially require re-downloading the whole game.
Have they brought back the old game sdk's yet (eg css), as even though i configure the sdk properly for it i still am unable to map for the old games.
I do agree l4d's sdk's load up time is a problem too...and i think more people would map
for l4d with some better tutorials.
from what i can tell both 2007 engine and 2009 are both the for the ornage box games but 2009 has instancing and manifests but breaks portal and ep2 which work fine on 2007 which does not have manifests and instancing, and it is possible to copy your tf2 game config to 2007 if you dont want manifests and instancing and just want the hammer you had before all this crap.
Yeah, the 2007 Ep2 works fine but the 2009 Ep2 and Portal are still broken. My guess is that if you put Portal into the 2007 list it'll work. Props to Valve for fixing the majority of the problems this quickly though.
EDIT: Hold on, only Ep2 doesn't work on the 2009 list (Portal does). I think it's because it was intended to be in the 2007 list, but they put a nonworking copy in 2009. The 2007 Ep2 still works fine, although it doesn't have instancing and all those newfangled gadgets.
