Science, why is it taking so long to connect to TF2 servers?

It seemed to get better a couple months ago. But now my connect times are out of control again. Just tonight I timed it, and I was sitting at "getting server info" for 3 minutes and "sending client info" for 5 minutes before I quit and tried again.

I've noticed that if my internet is slow or laggy, then it take longer to connect to TF2/its servers.


Was it a certain server you are trying to connect to? (is it one of ours :/)

Seems to be servers in general, but especially the ones in my favorites

Well, I hadn't seen too much issues with connecting to general servers...

It might be on your end, if you got a new ISP or a new router you might have to open certain ports.

Loosely related to the OP but latency has doubled for me since yesterday and everything seems ok in terms of my internet speed and such... I can't find a single game below 60 latency and with the amount of time/money I've speant on TF2 it's a real scary situation for me.

Any way to diagnose what's wrong/fix it? Any help would be really appreciated.

Yeah new updates makes more Space and Space. It really isn't fair but its to make it more fun and updated

Update: Either that 1% fragmentation made a hell of a difference, or it was my antivirus.
