Can anyone make a TF industries overlay, similar to this image:
TF_Industries_Logo.png

I'd like a version with the whole image, and one with only the circle part.
I've tried using VTFedit myself and it never seems to work out for me, so I thought I'd come here.

When you say "similar" to the one you showed, do you mean that you want someone to make you a texture from scratch, or do you want us to take that exact texture you're showing us and make it into a VMF? In either case I'd be happy to do this for you.

P.S. Also, what material is this texture made of? Is it paint on a wall, or a printed sign, or a paper poster? Should it remain crisp and precise like it is, or can it look a little bit more worn (like the Cornwell overlay)? Do you want a background around the logo or do you want it transparent?

Well the reason something like this isn't already in the game is because "Team Fortress" doesn't exist within its own lore.

I finished "TF2-izing" the texture with brush strokes, and I blurred the edges to get rid of the aliasing and give it a nice airbrushed look. I made a version with and without weathering. You can see examples of both in the link below:

Next I'll make the "just the circle" overlay, then I'll make everything into a vmt.

P.S. I'm going to have to resize these overlays to a power of 2 (512x256, 256x128, ect.). What size would be best for what you're going to be doing with these?

512 is fine for overlays (maybe even too much).

I fixed up the worn logo a bit and I made the two "just the circle" logos:

I'll get all four working as VMTs later today and they'll be all set. If you use these in your level, just give me credit for them (and make sure to send me a download link for your map so I can admire my overlays in action ;) ).

I think this is an overlay that could potentially be useful to a lot of people. Would you be fine with me making this overlay downloadable for public use, Clam? I'd give you credit just for suggesting I make it in the first place.

LOL. Spytech maps. Everyone hates 'em, myself included. How Turbine got official remains a mystery to this day...
It was the only CTF map that didn't suck. Including 2fort.

Screens, Downloads, and instructions

I went with 256x128 in the end. 512x256 was just too huge.

Some screens of the overlay being used in my KoTH map I'm working on:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/yi3kjxiff9vq82x/tf_industries_logo_screen_02.png

Download links for the VST and VMT:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/iakbjwxj6s787dk/tf_industries_logo_256.vtf

https://www.dropbox.com/s/l6l5diperbmg9s4/tbu_tf_industries_logo_256.vmt

Installation instructions:

Find your Steam folder and open it.

From your Steam folder, go to Steamapps > Common > Team Fortress 2 > tf > materials and create a new folder with this exact name: TBU_Textures

Paste tf_industries_logo_256.vtf and tbu_tf_industries_logo_256.vmt into your new folder

All subsequent textures I send you must also be placed in this folder.

Having these textures in a folder separate from Valve's textures makes them easy to find, RatPack, and delete, if you should ever want to delete them. THE TEXTURES WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DO NOT PUT THEM IN A FOLDER WITH THE EXACT NAME STATED ABOVE.

When you're ready to use these in game, just go into the texture browser and type this: tbu

That should be enough for the texture to show up in your search list. For now it will probably be the only texture showing when you type that. TBU stands for TheBestUsername, by the way.

Best of luck with your level, Captain. The rest of your overlays will be up and working today.

The only payment I ask for is that you finish your level and invite me to play test it. You can't give up now; you have an obligation to finish it so I can stare at my pretty overlays while I mow people down with my Tomislav. That would definitely be a better payment than money. :)

...well, I guess it wouldn't hurt if you thanked my posts... ;)
