looking for a custom railing model 52 units heigh wooden 150 units long 6-8 wide main hand rail and a 2nd rail with the textrues attached also looking for a 2nd one 300 units long any takers?
you could probably just make func_detail railings in hammer and just take those textures and turn them in to vtfs
um, can't you do that just as easily? If you're having problems with slopes and curves, there's a trick to that.
the problem is i dont have the memory allocation for it. with out all the railings im sitting at: brushsides 54499/65536 435992/524288 (83.2%) planes 56608/65536 1132160/1310720 (86.4%)
this is what im currently using: something similar, but better. cause this looks lame with the current one, the total model is 60 units heigh, but 8 of that hangs over the side and down the edge of the platform
I think you think it looks lame because the texture you're using is lame. Try some of the TF2 stock wood textures.
If it's the same basic railing repeated a berjillion times, then a model does sound like a good idea to me, provided you're willing to design it so that you only use certain lengths/shapes...
correct my map was designed in that fashon i was planning on just using brushes... but then i hit the engine limit. so now i need props
intresting.... i will have to look into that. oh and fyi this is for my map called cp_treehouse which is over in this direction: [ame="http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=10050"]http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=10050[/ame]
If you've run out of memory allocation, you could just select everything that's func_detail and send it through propper. Or, if you don't want to go to mapping hell turn the individual handrailings into props. Either way.
propper may do what i need, i just have to figure out how to get it working... i have several other things that could be propped. if anyone knows of a tutorial on propper that link would also be appreciated
well i think i may have found something that will work: its the railing posts from the swamp pack all i did was add a 6x6 railing in between i can adjust length as necessary, and the height is right what i wanted, high enough to prevent you from jumping over, but low enough so you can crouch-jump over to bad there isnt a darker skin for the posts. thoughts?
Why aren't you using the stock wood textures? I know yours fits the trees but it doesn't fit the handrailings.
