Problem with overlays?

    My friend and I have been having this problem for a while and can't find a solution anywhere. When adding an overlay it looks fine in hammer, but shows up black in-game. There are no errors in my compile log. I've added pictures of the dilemma in case anyone is curious. Solutions would be greatly appreciated.

    Think that's caused by either no cubemaps, fast compile or no lighting. I got this in my map when I compiled for a test. My guess is with the lighting option though.

    Are you adding then manually? add with the overlay tool

    you need lights in your map other then full bright

    that is a commun problem when ppl compile fast vrad and vvis or vbsp well you should put it all to normal so it might work

    Black overlays are caused by lack of a light entity in your map (i.e., fullbright).

    It appears that lighting was indeed the answer. I had hoped it wasn't something this easy :p. Thanks all!

    I allways hope the opposite of that. That way its usualy easier to fix it in case it happens again.
