I'm fairly new to TF2 mapping and I am currently working on a map called CP_foothills that is nearing its first release. However, one of the last things that need to be done is VISleaf splitting and leak fixing and unfortunately, the pointfile and portalfile for my map have disappeared. Is there a way to recreate a pointfile and portalfile for my map?

    Thanks in advance.

I never heard of them disappearing. I think you aren't looking in the right place for it.

You can recreate it by compiling again.

Ah. Well now that you've mentioned it, compiling fails to create a .bsp of my map.

It probably has something to do with the filename. The map was originally named WIP in Hammer editor and afterwards saved it as CP_foothills_a1.

It's probably an error with the filename or such but I'll check.

EDIT: The map compiles fine now but it won't generate the point/portalfiles.

I thought pointfiles were only generated if you had a leak?

point files are generated if and only if you have a leak, if you cant load it, your compiled map does not have a leak.

portal files are always generated exepct if you compile with no vvis.

to see what went wrong, I suggest posting your compile log in this handy compile log checker

I was pretty sure the portal and pointfile were generated in vbsp.
