I am working on a little tf2 mini game using the Ogre3D engine, and the sniper bow (first person only) would be a perfect place holder until I finish up the game and can get some real art made. Basically I am looking for someone to decompile the sniper's bow, and export it to a .mesh file so I can use it with that engine.

I can provide the .mesh exporter. I tried doing it myself, but I am only familiar with Blender, and apparently the SMD importer doesn't work with animations.

If anyone is interested in doing this I will gladly pay you for your time, and would be most appreciative.

apart from valve totally not being fine with such a thing, i think as a placeholder a simple polygonal model works fine as an actual placeholder until some "real art" is made. no need to rip a model from another game.
and with no more info on your game project this is all a little bit on the shady side of life, i'm afraid :(

How so? Technically as long as it is never seen/released using any copywrighted materials of valve, no harm no foul.

it's not that easy. valve has something written down for cases like that. it's fine to modify their stuff within their engines and games but to just take it out...
the time we could invest in discussing this legal issue could be used to make a simple bow placeholder for your game :)

lol okay, would you be interested in doing that then? My issue is that there really isn't any available first person weapon models, especially animated, floating around on the net that I have found.

I think he is saying for you to make your own simple model rather than use Valves
