Wow, I for one like the direction the new medic weapons are taking. Sounds like they add more dimensions to the game.

The Blutsaugher
For players that earn one third of the 36 new medic achievements, they will be given a new syringe gun. Called "The Blutsaugher," this new weapon no longer has the ability to score critical hits against an opponent. Instead it will draw health from enemies each time a syringe hits. Especially useful as a weapon to retreat away from the fight while staying alive.
The Critzcrieg
Once a medic has earned two thirds of the achievements, they will be granted "The Critzcrieg." This new medigun uses its ubercharge not for invulnerability, but to give its recipient 100% chance to fire critical ordinance. Medics and the player they are charging need to be careful though, because as much fun as it is to fire critical rockets as fast as you can, the other team will see what you're up to and try to put a quick stop to your plan.
The Ubersaw
For the determined medic that has earned all 36 of the new achievements, they will find themselves the proud owner of "The Ubersaw," which will take damage done in melee attacks and convert it directly to ubercharge. Four hits with this new weapon will fully charge whatever medigun the medic has equpped.

no no no you've got it all wrong

it steals the health from the enemy that the syringe hits and gives it to you (or someone else???)

handy in a pinch, I'd definatly use this rather than the normal syringe gun

Hahah, now I get it! That sounds like much more fun. Youme you should have written the valve release instead.

Actually thinking about it that could be a really powerful weapon. I'm guessing they're not going to give a 1:1 health taken:given tradeoff, or they'll reduce the syringe rate of fire or something.

I remember reading that it gives about 3 health per syringe that hits.

EDIT: Also, GameTrailers TV (it's mentioned half-way through the preview) will be debuting "Meet the Scout" on their episode on Friday.

After Valve just reduced the effectiveness of multi-uebering? This is a clear indication of Valve both approving and disapproving of the tactic, and it's very contradictory.

I'm not into this direction Valve is taking with TF2 (achievements to gain loadouts). Not that I won't try it out.

no not really, they nerfed it a bit to make it a tactic for the more advanced medic players, they know about it and could take it out completely if they wanted but they didn't they only wanted to make it more challenging and less overpowering (I've managed to uber 3 people at once, with 3 people ubered for 10 seconds thats an unstoppable push, now it would only be 5ish seconds so its more fair)

I can see them reducing overall multi ueber time for balance reasons, that's fine. However, it's an advanced tactic whether it lasts 10 or 5 seconds. Balance aside, they've reduced the effective skill range of a medic by making multi uebering less effective. TF2 doesn't need to move toward the "one dimensional class" any further. New loadouts should alleviate this (requiring achievements to earn them, though, argh!)

so drooling over the ubersaw...i literally play as medic to saw people :D

hmm...there are like 6 really hard ones, a few that will just take a long time, but most seem easy enough

on that note...someone I know is dead certain that this update will be out on the 20th...not sure how likely this is...but...they have been right before

Some of them are OK achievements, some are funny and easy (like the FYI I'm a medic... I do that almost every time i play tf2...) and some are really dumb, like the uber scout one. WHO UBERS A SCOUT first of all, second, they outrun the medic... gonna be a hard achievement...

I think the reall thing we should be discussing is this sentence here:

In addition, Walker hints that, later down the line, Valve will introduce entirely new character classes as well as maps that differ dramatically from Goldrush.

NEW classes? NEW maptypes? it seems valve's plans are far from stopping the flow of new content for TF2
