need help with skyboxes

so I've seen few beatiful skyboxes on here and would like to know if there's any way I can use them in the game itself as "mods". Placing them in tf>materials>skybox doesn't help; tf>custom>folder>materials>skybox doesn't work either

As in replace the skyboxes in existing maps? No.
