Much bigger than the ExplosionCore_Wall, but not quite as big as the Goldrush explosion.
Well just look around the particles which are avaiable in game. There are a few unused ones
I think you could use the explosion of the sentry-buster.
And if the size isn't correct just edit a few parameters of the effect
Is there a particle browser somewhere?
There's a list of all particle effects in the developer wiki if you just want the names.
To actually see them, you have to extract them with gcfscape into your tf/particles directory. Then run TF2 with the -tools option to access the particle editor, which allows you to view the particle effects at game quality. There's tutorials all over the internet if you google a bit, it's not hard if all you want to do is look.
So Steampipe broke the particle editor too? Gee, what a surprise.
actually it didn't
It's just that you have to extract the particle files to view them in the editor
In other words, it was already broken.
I'm pretty sure I've successfully used the particle editor to look at stock particle effects without jumping through any hoops, back in 2011 when I was trying to find out if it was possible to modify the Bonk! invulnerability effect. (It's not.)
Well for those interested, I didn't actually find a bigger (but not too big) explosion effect, but I combined the ExplosionCore_Wall and heavy_ring_of_fire effects to make it look bigger
because everything's better with fire
Separate names with a comma.
