Hello all ... 
I'm a sort-of-long-time TF2 player (as in, I started maybe 10 months ago and play a couple hours at a time a few nights a week ...
), but fairly new to the world of mapping. Thought I might try going straight to the source to get some ideas/tips/to be able to release anything I make. I've already learned quite a bit through trial and error with 2 maps that went totally screwy, but I'm on my 3rd mapping effort now and I think it's getting close to alpha-release-ability. The biggest win for it is that unlike my previous maps, my computer still survives the compile process.
I hope to get the layout finished and posted soon so I can fix any problems before moving on from dev-textured blocks to the hard-core aesthetics (my favorite part!).
As for some favorites, since the forum description suggested it:
My favorite class is the Medic, and my favorite map is Dustbowl (although I do like a little 2fort now and then for some CTF flavor, and because I can play as Engineer there without feeling clueless as to where to put buildings
).
