I was wondering is it possible to make a lighting entity that would ONLY affect models, or something along these lines? I have a map that mostly all black textures, and thus the player models all look black on them (the light's that I put there don't light up the player models very good, probably because the game thinks black textures shouldn't reflect light.
tools/toolsblack doesnt change no matter what the light. You could make the model use a lighting origin, then put that origin in a box somewhere with a light of how you'd want the model to be lit.
I was thinking about that too, but I don't think it's possible to make all the player models to use a seperate lighting origin. Well, it's not totally black. There are also some brightly colored lines to help the players navigate.
I... dislike the sound of that... remember this isn't L4D, bright colours play an importat part in TF2's theme. Anyway, tools/ textres are the only ones unaffected by light, so unless you use tools/black (please don't ) then this is impossible. what's wrong with having lights in there anyway? Surely you need them to see the bright lines? I'm sure you can fight the right level of light to comprimise seeing the character and not seeing the walls.
