I'm working on a map that features a volcano (currently in a1 stage), and I've run into a problem.

I'm trying to come up with a cool way to get to the top of the volcano, so I decided to put a control center inside the volcano. The only problem is getting from the outside part of the map to the inside part.

I've tried making multiple brushes, leaving a door-sized hole in them and making the volcano... That didn't work so well.

So yeah, any ideas as to how I can make a volcano with a building inside?
(Note: It must be possible to enter and exit this building at two points on either team's side.)

You should just be able to cut a hole through the displacements.

Build your displacements in squares of 256inches or so around the building. Then leave out the displacment square where you want the doorways.

If you already have your displacement volcano then I guess you may be able to 'cut' the doorways using the:clippingtool: clipping tool but that may mess up your volcano.

    You can do that?!?
    How do I do that?
(I tried carving... and my displacement exploded)
    -That was at Altaco

I assume that he was talking about the clipping tool.

    AFAIK you can't carve a displacement...successfuly anyway.

If you select the volcano and click the clipping tool, you can then, on any 2d view, choose where to 'cut' the displacement. Once you've decided where, you should have the brush sperated in two. One half red, one white.

Click the clipping tool until both sides go white, then press enter, and repeat the process to 'cut' a doorway into the brush. You can then delete the segment you dont need by ungroupign the brush.

You could always slice it down the middle once, and then use the paint tool to push the edges aside around the building. It would look pretty ugly but you'd only cut it once, so you could always hide it.

I'm going to do a modified version of the guide Terr posted.
I got one wall done, and it looks sweet.
