I have an idea for the Sniper's new weapon. :U

It fits with both his long-range attacks and him being Australian.

A boomerang. :^D

It can hurt people from a long-range distance, but it takes a bit to come back.

Maybe it can knock people out like the Sandman.

You're right, it's delightfully fitting to his national origin. I don't think it would be very useful to him though. If he's going to take shots at somebody far away, the prospect of a possible headshot is better than any partial damage or stunning the boomerang would do. Plus, its return time is no doubt longer than reloading his sniper rifle.

What the sniper needs is things that help him stay alive in close combat.

The boomerang replaces which? Primary weapons have been of the same type so far...

For primary, I'd say some kind of Australian safari hunting rifle.

I'm really curious to what they are going to do with the sniper. Right now the sniper rifle works perfect in both long, mid and short range.. the smg is used to do steady damage (to track cloaked spies) and kukri is standard chop chop.

I can't think of a rifle that would be a complete sidegrade... the current one does exactly what sniper rifles should do.

I personally think that the Sniper is fine as it is. He is meant for killing people at long ranges, therefore it makes sense to have a weak machine-gun and a fairly strong kukri.

And for your information, the Sniper does not have an Australian accent. Being an Australian, it sounds MUCH more like an English accent to me. Our accent seems to be a lot more bogan.. according to some people ;)

It's just a silly mock accent. Listen to his voice clips, and he's got one where he even says he's Australian.

I really don't think the Sniper will get a boomerang. If he actually does, I bet it will be a melee weapon that you can just whack people with or something.

I think the Sniper should get a weapon that allows him to mark enemies and sentries and stuff. Kinda like the monocular in FarCry 2.

Sniper is an Australian character for sure, but he's beeing dubbed by an English. Valve said that.

I guess it would replace his melee.

And I didn't know I'd get somewhat positive responses. XD

I would have thought it was obvious, new rifle will have no charge and instead have some kind of set body and headshot damage

the current one works like that.. :)
non-charged headshot does 150 damage, always.

If a rifle that doesnt charge does >150 damage (headshot) its not a sidegrade but a massive upgrade.
if it does <150 damage it's a downgrade (aka shit)
if it does =150 damage, what's the point? you lose the ability to charge for no benefit.

...
How about a sniper rifle that can only headshot at short range, reloads fast, only carries 8 ammo. 165 damage (non-charged)headshot, bodyshot -33% damage.

Would promote more snipers to actually join in on the frontlines. Trading long distance accuracy for speed and slightly higher damage (still not enough to quickshot demo, pyro etc).

Maybe have a boomarang that can hit targets around corners?

'Fire' it with left mouse and it curves left, right mouse curves right. Amount of time you hold down mouse button before release/firing determines how far away from you it goes (sticky-bomb style) before turning 90 degrees?

Pro's: It goes around corners.
Con's: Slower than rocket time of flight? Only one in air at time? Replaces, and does less damage, than SMG? After turning 90 degrees it must still hit enemies target box, which is difficult to do?

Not really.
It would be equivalent to giving the scout a native-american blowdart gun or somesuch.
