It looks like I threw noodles to design my map because I'm learning what works and what doesn't when you move from paper theory to brushwork, and what does and does not work in my understanding of the theory itself. If something doesn't work, I'll remove it, and if it works, I'll keep it in and refine it over time.

I agree completely that the layout is confusing. I'm about a third of the way to Alpha 4 now, and the farmhouse area between A and B is completely gone, along with the red/blue balcony shack. Every area is being refined based on every piece of available feedback.

There are tons of signs, but they did not help at all given the layout. Now that the layout is much simpler, this should no longer be an issue. Same goes for item packs. There were at least 24 in Alpha 3 :p

The compile issue was fixed by me literally cut-pasting the entire map into a new VMF.

I did answer your question, earlier. There is no "advantage" per se. I'm poking a stick at convention.
