My vote is for defile. Looking like cataract is gonna win it though. We'll have to explain to the masses it's nothing to do with impaired vision(cataracts). :D Looking forward to playing the new version codename. Nice work!:cool1:

You have no idea how long I've been working to get these table tags right >.> and in the end I changed so much I'd be better off without them >.<

A cataract indeed also means something else but the name doesn't have to be too obvious, and it's an interesting name so why not?

Thank for voting everyone! :D
Like I said before:
I don't guarantee that the polls winner will be used as the new name, it only makes my decision a bit easier.
That's were I am now, I now know what people think and I have yet to decide if I really use the name or not.

The most people voted for cataract because it sounded cool or because it had the most votes but maybe even more people got angry or confused because it's and eye disease. In the end the results are still pretty close and I now have to seriously consider the options and make my final decision on the name.

I hope you guys understand that, but thanks for voting anyway!

Ugh why did they had to pick the name gorge!? :cursing: That name was perfect..
Makes me angry every time :(

We play pl_gorge on a regular basis for a week now, and the map is getting good feedback from our players.
The only problems are the following :
- May be too sniper friendly on some point (especially the final, where one sniper can kill almost anyone coming to push the cart without losing any cover)
- The final point is way too hard compare to the rest of the map, the single corridor with no escape make it too easy for demo/solly sniper too spam and destroy a well build attack.

-More optimizing
-Various other fixes.

I hope you like it! :) :blushing:

Thats right it's got a brand new name!
A very necessary name change tough ;)
This name wasn't on the poll that's right but all names seemed to have a con so I had a brainstorm session with some friends and this is what we came up with!

(funfact: in total I had taken a bout ... names into consideration!)

Also thank a lot to Steff00 for making the custom saw model! :D

@Geal: Yea I didn't really know a good size for that chicken wire so this was more a temporary texturescale but I changed it now and I feel a lot happier about how it looks now :)

@Flubber: I'm glad you guys liked it! Indeed the snipers & the final point were quit an issue and they were my main focus to fix on beta 5. So hopefully it is btter now  ;)

PS: Could someone please rename this thread to 'Crosscut (formerly known as Gorge)'

Hehe yea I actually started my map with that bridge ;)
It's currently 192 units wide, 1152 units long and has an height of 416 units.
The height from the water till the top of the bridge is 284 units.
192 units is enough to walk alongside the cart but you might want to try something out since it's not a lot of moving space (that's why I added the ladder which makes it a lot easier to get on the bridge and move around)

We gave it a whirl tonight for a few rounds w/full teams.

Generally positive in regards to the looks and style of the map... but man, some of the actual play-zones are... well, they're not Hoodoo 2-2 bad, but they can stand to be improved. There seems to be a lot of thin corridors with weird clippings you've gotta maneuver through, and they could stand to be widened up. That last part before the last final point's pretty nasty. I mean, there's a point where you can't actually get *around* the bomb to push out in front of it.

Wish I grabbed demos or screenshots to show what I mean, it's hard to describe in text.
