CP Fractal

    Alrighty, I think its time to make a thread.

    Fractal is the name of an old A/D CP map I made, never got past the first stage. Was terrible, nothing has been recycled even remotely into this map.


    The concept is that it starts granary theme, moving into a mountain in stage two, and finally for the third stage, nucleus/vector theme. I am currently undecided about lighting and skybox, so im trying a new one for each compile.


    Anywho, regarding the screens, the first one is the first point, second is the second point, of which I am planning on adding a building on top of. The third is the third point, and the last, you cant see, but there is a large catwalk above the point.

    I have the last stage fully drawn, but not mapped at all. I dont think il have a working alpha of the whole map for atleast a week.

    Anyways, it looks nice, but too open.

    Your first screen's CP is by a slanted roof, so you're going to want to make sure players don't hit the slant, which can stop them from running up ramps.

    Screen 2's CP needs more work. It looks way too plain and there's a large sightline running under the bridge to the CP. Honestly, I'd advise remaking that whole section. I'd try to keep in mind that CP's built along straight paths (straight path leading in etc) can be pretty tough to make fun, so try putting it on a corner or something.

    The third screenshot simply needs less space in between the buildings, and all that open floor space needs more variation.

    Coming to you last screenshot, you just need to find something to take up space on the ground. If you can't just drop something in (I usually find that hard, as it feels like something has been dropped in), I'd try conforming the map in that area so that you can put an interesting feature there.

    You have a good start, but the map just needs to be tighter, especially on ground level, and the map just needs some more interesting features. Don't fret-- I'm not condemning this. I'm just saying that it needs something to make this map individual.

    Thanks for taking the time to look at my screens Absurd!

    Il defintaly take what you said into consideration, but not for a while. As of now, this map is on hold for five weeks, until I finish the FIRST robotics competition. Im the head of the electronics team :D I won't be around much until after that too, so i'l see you guys in a few weeks (Im sure that I will stop by once or twice a week, but as of now, my mapping time has become nill, considering I now have a 12 hour schoolday)
