So... I decided that I wanted to make a trade map to keep my mind off of pumpstation while i wait for it to get tested... and i decided on a space theme, and i would like a texture to use in a func_brush, something that you could walk through it into a inner spaceship feel, or out into an outer space feel... (I may even mess with gravity outside)

But I need a texture for the "Grills" and my idea was a texture very similar to the particle emancipation grid from portal 2... But i would like one for both teams... if anyone knows of an ANIMATED texture like this, please, do tell... if one doesnt exist... well... im broke IRL, so i could get you a few ref?

The Emancipation Grill from Portal 2 is a texture, not a particle. (The one from Portal is however.)
For it's right appearance in the game, it uses material proxies that aren't supported by TF2's source branch. AFAIK

Alright I just looked at it and it may be something I can do (looks tricky to make though) I'll try to make something kind of similar and hopefully it doesn't look bad lol

I think I should be able to do it, I'm kind of ass at using photoshop, but it should be able to work

Ok so I did a bit of testing to see how it looks as an animated gif and I must say it's not as bad as I thought it would be, I'm going to fix it up a bit then make the red version

Ok so I was attempting to make this a texture, but I was having trouble making it translucent (There are some tutorials on how to make transparent textures though) so u could maybe look at this and see if it's what you're looking for

Also don't be afraid to tell me if this isn't what u were looking for because I could change it if u need

yes I know, I wanted to see what u thought of the general look of it first before I do the red version. If u don't end up liking it then I would have wasted some time making the red one. It was just sort of a way to check on your opinion before I go out and finish it. But anyways, if u have had a chance to see the texture as a gif yet then what do you think of it?

I attempted to in photoshop, but it didn't really affect how it looks ingame. I could give you the files that were kind of transparent too, but I think it requires doing something in vtfedit for it to show up as transparent.

That's a relief I'm glad u like it! Anyway the pictures might work as transparent textures the way they are, but I'm not sure if the opacity will affect its transparency in tf2.

The problem is that you saved them as JPEGs, you silly. JPEG doesn't support transparency.
