Hello, I am new here, and this is my first map that I will be releasing.

Story - BLU and RED have found a little bit of land, that is seperated from their reach, they race to build ways to get to that land. The cheeky buggers also then build underground to try and inflitrate the enemy. The land in the middle could hold the key to finally destroy their enemy (BLU or RED). The fued of RED and BLU, begins!

As you can see from the images, the map has literally only just been started. Now as a beginner, I am going to be asking alot of questions, that is the main reason I made this post. That 1 RED Spawnroom, took me about 4 hours. - Are there ways of doing things like that Quicker? - If so, please help me. It has taken me such a long time to make such a small area. That isn't even that playable or detailed.

Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance.

Looking ok so far, but I would suggest getting a map to at least Alpha1 stage before posting it in a thread like this. Posting pre-alpha is unnecessary and is usually problematic for a map as it leaves it open to simple criticism before the map is even complete. The map may also be left behind as more posts stack up on threads with finished maps which people have to post in order to deliver good feedback about.

For now, I would leave this thread and continue to work on your map. Come back at a later date and post screen shots of your map when it is completed, then we can deliver proper feedback and playtest the map.

You should experiment with your textures a little bit. And also vary them. other wise the whole map looks the same and both red and blue also look the same. (which ca cause confusion) Anyway it's looking nice so far. :)

Thanks for the excellent feedback, I am working on it alot now, but me being a beginner of a mapper, it's going at a turtoise pace. :)

And the cubemaps and Lighting, I havn't done yet. Might be to do with the fact, i'm naf at lighting, and have never done cubemaps before. ;)

Once the map is complete, it will be released on here, for heavy critism, thanks again.

    Matt.

About the map. I wouldn't texture yet, I would get the layout down and sorted before I started texturing.

^I agree with what Owl said, appropriatley change all the textures you have at the moment to "dev" textures, the simple orange, red, blue, grey and white textures you see on many maps which have measurements on them - These will help you build a good layout without being distracted by textures and detail.
