Well, thinking along the lines of something new and creative, what about a snowy runoff/slushy theme? Ice melting and flowing into rivers... dirty snow... maybe a light Spring rain.

Example:

Once I get back to my dorm I can also post some of my photographs from Red Dog Mine in the winter if you're interested.

That is a great idea, but probably not what I'm looking for. I would however love to see if anyone else could manage to pull that off decently

Oh man... I REALLY wish you would try the Japanese theme, someone needs to replicate the level of awesome that several TFC maps had. Here's a relevant post I made on cp_orient that references a bunch of thematic choices you could make for an asian style.

Also, I'd like to point out a map from an upcoming game, Global Agenda. There's a map called Himalayas, which I've never played, but it has a perfect look for TF2, if slightly more realistic. Here's what screenshots I could find of it:

Restructured the second point and surroundings a bit. Removed the worst sightlines and divided it to 2 battlezones.

Now working on connecting cp2 with mid!

Map looks pretty cool! For some reason though when I look at the layout and props (ignoring textures) I keep thinking about Nova Prospekt from hl2 or another type of compound, maybe a chemical plant even. Also, it would be fairly interesting to see a Japanese theme of some sort. You should try it! Its something different at least.

Yeah well, I have a contest entry to work on at the moment.
It's not a dead project by any means, but I do not have anything new to present right now.
