How do these work? I'm using the texture from sawmill and I copied the map properties over from sawmill and they don't appear. I searched on this forum and google and have found nothing.
Is detail.vbsp a file you have to create? I can only find a CS and DoDS detail.vsbp

I've been wanting to know this as well, I get the same exact error with the Sawmill ground/grass texture.
I can create alphas, of course, there's nothing difficult with that, but for whatever reason the detail sprites won't show up on grass whenever I look through alpine maps in Hammer, or compile maps that use the alpine textures.
Other detail sprites in other maps will show up fine, and the detail sprites show up in Sawmill and Lumberyard for me.
With the new update, Valve added the detail vbsp for Sawmill, hooray. And just in time for me to figure out how they work!
I have just one last related question that isn't really big enough to warrant its own thread: is there any way one could make it so detail sprites don't show up in certain places? For example, the skybox?
