It is a big download (Frontier sized) so I've decided to go with fewer public releases so people don't get sick of downloading it and server ops can put builds up that will have shelf life. This means we all have to wait a little longer. =(

Yes, there are three stages and the first public release will include all stages.

Shame there isn't a way to distribute the custom materials and models separately from the map itself, so everyone can just download the new map geometry by itself when there's an update.

Well you you make some kind of compromise? We all are fine with downloading big maps. You could say give the file to someone with upload powers (like Rexy) and we can run tests of the newest version without the need to publicly release it.
