    Hey guys,

I've got lots and loads of problems with compiling my map. Almost every time I try to compile it, I get a "The system cannot find the file specified" error. Something is blocking the compiler process, and I think that that is why it won't create my .bsp file? Comp log:

    Code:
    ** Executing...

The command failed. Windows reported the error:
"The system cannot find the file specified."

And I think that this is the problem...

    Code:
Error: displacement found on a(n) func_detail entity - not supported (entity 378, brush 0)
But does anyone know what it means?

Thanks for your time, it's a school project and should be showed tomorrow on an Active Board. Which of course is verrry cool, but it should of course be working by that time :O

    Thanks in advance!

It means that dispacement can't be func_detail, it has to be world brush, not tied to entity. And I think in any error case it tries to copy the earlier map. In this case there doesn't seem to be earlier map ?

Also this is very helpful site

Haha, I know, you all have helped me a lot so far!

So there is somewhere in my map a func_detail, which is a displacement, but to be rendered properly I should use the toWorld button? Is there any way I can see which func_detail causes the problem?

    Thanks for your response!

EDIT: Just did that, compiling now takes longer, but I still got an error. Another one this time, what could this mean?

    First NODRAW on terrain surface!
You aren't allowed to have the "tools/nodraw" texture one a displacement. Replace this with something else, like rockground. On the right side of your hammer should be VisGroups window, click Auto tab and unselect all but displacements. Find the one with nodraw and replace it.

Second Displacement 23 has bad geometry near 1012.00 -2880.00 210.71
Can't compile displacement physics, exiting. Texture is NATURE/ROCKWALL003

Click View-> Goto Coordinates and copypaste these into it. I think you have to destroy this displacement and recreate it.

    Hope this hels :p

Haha, it isn't as impressive as you think. In fact, it isn't impressive at all :p I'm doing Gymnasium (I live in Holland / The Netherlands. You know, the country that sadly lost the finals of the world championship football in 2010...), which means I learn Latin and ancient Greek at high school. As a project, we were allowed to make a 3D version of the underworld. So we had to make the river Styx, lava (lame scrolling lava texture), grass, trees, etc. It's rather ugly, because most of the time we were just fixing compiler probs :p instead of working on the map itself. Fire wasn't working, took some time before we red the Wikipedia article about fire. Stupid of course. Enough explanation? :)
