Hey again.
After giving up on the soundscape index error and resigning myself to using ambient generics, I've once again stumbled across a completely unfixable (at least to me) error when packing my map using compilepal. Packing the map causes it to spit out a keyvalue error, saying that a vmt somewhere in my map is corrupted. Normally this would be fine and would only take me like 30 minutes to find the broken vmt and fix it, but I've spent 3 days looking through my textures and haven't found anything wrong. I've tried:

  • deleting every single prop = keyvalue error
  • changing every texture to the default dev measure texture = keyvalue error
  • deleting everything in my map except for an info_player_start = keyvalue error
  • using different versions of compilepal = keyvalue error

but I still get a keyvalue error.
I can manually pack the files using VIDE and they work fine, although it takes up a lot more time than I would like. If some genius coding wizard could help me solve this issue, I would be eternally grateful.

I've attached the error log and the vmf below.
