I'm trying to make an area that is somewhat like a canyon/valley, essentially a large hole in the ground but with steeply sloped sides. There are four exits, two on either side. I have absolutely no idea how to make it look decent, though. I've tried quite a few displacement cliff tutorials and such (including YM's tutorials), but none of them seem to work out.
Here's a screenshot of my (currently square) valley area. Each part of the walls is split so that they will sew correctly, but I'm not sure how to go from there.
I want the sides of the cliff to look somewhat like this except without the graduated sides, just sloping directly down like a valley but with an expansive flat bottom, and it should have a generally rounded shape. The top area needs to be accessible as well, with only a very slight slope there.
How might I go about doing this?
