I can't seem to get this to work. I create an info_particle_system entity with the system name as "aurora_borealis" and set start active as "yes". I also created an aurora_particles file in my maps folder just in case.

Did you also create a mapname_particles.txt and did you put the particle .pcf file name in that? Because Source needs a mapname_particles.txt in the same folder the map itself is in (so tf/maps or tf/download/maps) in order to cache the particles when the map boots, otherwise you won't see them.

You need another copy of that file inside the particles folder as well, named [mapname]_manifest.txt. And I think a third called particles_manifest.txt? I'm just going off what the wiki says. And of course don't forget to pack them all when you ship your map.

All you need is the (mapname)_particles.txt in the tf/maps folder. It looks like the thing you did wrong was put aurora_particles at the top, when it should be particles_manifest @CyanideNoodles
