Beginner Inspiration

Howdy............ pardners..........

Tldr I'm looking for simple to implement ideas for inspiration :0 I'm sorta sure this is the right subforum...? Since I'm making a request? I considered either this one or the map discussion forum.

I'm currently suffering from my plans for my maps being more complicated than I have time or ability for. I'm currently sssllllooowwwlllyyyy working on my split-cap ctf map and my shitpost payload map, but I need something that I can wrap my head (and shitty computer) around. What's something cool that not a lot of maps have that I could take inspiration from?

Hahahaha thank ye for the candyland joke >U< and a dam does sound interesting :0 I had an idea a long time ago about a map with a dam next to a national park... Hmmmmm

I recommend looking at TF2 concept art and looking around some of the early maps to get a feel for the colour palettes and style.

Ooh these are good. It makes me melancholy that the best looking old maps are often mechanically terrible (2fort, hydro, ect)
