Did anyone else try the demo for this? I was thinking about getting it and Trine (and maybe Bioshock 2) for cheap, but I'm not sure how good these are in the long run. Opinions?
cryostasis is a very good game. but its not your regular fast paced run n gun kinda gameplay.
its very slow paced.
now I don't know if your heard about the story/mechanics but basically you're that meteorologist guy. and there's that ship that froze in arctica. not sure what your goal is in the first place (the story is kinda hazy at some times) but w/e you go there and get stuck in the ship because of the shitstorm outside. all the game is on that ship so the environment is kinda repetitive. but the mechanics are very interesting. at some points, you can enter the mind of dead sailors and live the instant before their death and what you'll do in these events will affect the past and these changes will be reflected in the present. that way you'll open new paths that allow you to progress through the game. the mechanic is very interesting gameplay wise but it is also a very powerful way to convey the story. I found the past story way more interesting than the present story in fact...
the enemies are really weird in the game tho. you don't really know why they are like this and why they are there. best explanation I came up with is that the ship crew has been cursed by the ship or something like that.
tl:dr It's not a perfect game it, has its flaws and the environment feels kinda monotone at some point so the game is probably a 6 out of 10 at best. but it really is a unique gem that I will remember for a very long time. definitely worth playin.
Basically, after the events of Episode 2, Gordon becomes separated from Alyx on the helicopter. Gordon has psychic powers and time travel, and the crew of the Borealis are all horrible walking abominations.
