Got my computer up and running last night, as a test fired up hellgate london on dx10 with all settings maxed. It ran perfectly fine with no hitches or anything, looks really really good too. Im loving this computer. :)

Nice, my computer is not DX10 capable, but if you pay attention to Hardware / Game review sites and look at the side by side comparisons, I have yet to see a benefit in switching to DX10.

All the sites notice a sizable drop in framerate along with only a slight increase in graphics quality. The way some of the games trick you into thinking DX10 looks so much better is they disable the highest settings for DX9 programatically (I am looking at you crysis) but when those settings are hacked so that you can run the game at its highest in DX9, the differences are negligible in my opinion.

I figure I have at least another year left in my computer before I start to notice problems playing most games at medium+ quality, and another year after that before I have to start playing games on low. When that happens it will be time to pay a bit more for the next generation.

As it stands now I would want to build a computer off of a PCIe 2.0 mobo, and those are not cheap right now ($300+) and the good ones use DDR2 1333 (about $400 for 1 gig). Plus the new 9 series from nvidia will be arriving in the next 6 months, so that should have had the kinks worked out before I try to buy again.

All in all though I kinda wish I could buy new parts for my computer now.

well in hellgate before when i would switch to dx10 it would run like crap. But now even with the max settings it looks good, plus for some reason only with dx10 can you get the cool motion blur that they have in there. Plus it just looks overall better quality, but yeah probably because they have the highest dx9 disabled.
