Hey guys, I'm in need of an Unusual Map for my Unusual trade server. I can of course pay for this, just add me on Steam to discuss a price. You can add me here: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198042285872/ .

Anyway, I'm looking for a map that isn't like the standard trade maps (i.e. Plaza, Unusual Center, RAWR, etc.). I'm looking for a map that will contain some similar traits to TF2-Trader's and Pink Taco's maps, but of course be different.

For my map I'd like a map that has a large outdoors. I'd like to have an optional arena underground where red spawn, but can't get out. All BLU team mates will spawn above ground. I'd like the arena to be a medium sized arena, with some obstacles here and there. Blu would be able to access the Arena by heading down a flight of stairs and into a door. I'd also like there to be a brick building or something of the sorts that will have a Spycrab room, a Heavy boxing room, and a place to take screenshots. I'd like there to be a platform of some sorts outside the building, a platform similar to the one found on TF2-Trader. A lake of somesorts would also be nice. A Skybox will also be needed on this map, the Skybox dosen't have to be anything special, just something big enough for people to teleport up there and move around.

These are just some ideas I generally have, but I am of course open to work with this ideas with a mapper. Just add me if you're interested in this project to discuss payment, thanks.

What nightwatch is saying is that we get a metric fuckton of requests for trade maps, but they rarely get fulfilled because that's not what most of this community is interested in. I'm not saying that nobody will do it or that you're not allowed to request trade maps, I just wouldn't expect anyone to actually take you up on this.

On the other hand, if someone drew a detailed layout for what they wanted done, and gave very specific instructions as to the theme and function of each area of the map they wanted, it's possible that some of them would be fulfilled. I know that I wouldn't mind practice doing a little detailing myself, and many of the first maps that get posted here are even unworthy for trade servers, and mapping newbies could use the extra practice too. But that doesn't seem to be what people making requests want, so I guess there's a clash of wills there.

I'm not looking for anything perfect or precise, I just want something that isn't boring and that's unique. Most trade maps are horribly made, and yet people still play on them. I just want something that dosen't make you want to kill yourself out of boredom after an hour of playing on the server.

Well see, the problem there is that the part of TF2 that's not boring is the gameplay. And if half of the people are going to be sifting through menus, you can't set up a proper objective-based game, because you won't have fully attentive teams. There's not really a good way for a mapper to create interesting gameplay for a solo player. That's why I think you should set up your trade server as trade/surf; it gives players an individual thing to do, and is not changed by players participating or not participating.

I can sift through the menus without boredom, I personally enjoy trading. There are some really good trade maps out there, that I've enjoyed. By boring I mean I don't want to sit in a Trade_plaza clone while trading.

The only time I would be willing to help someone is if they gave me a detailed outline of what they want the map to be, diagram, theme and all.

I don't want to spend my life and use my brain power coming up with a custom map that would be used for trading, however I'm more than happy to make a map to given specifications.

I actually have a decent map I'm using now but I'm looking for a mapper to fix some things on it, do you think you could help me out?

this will only work if you have the .vmf or .vmx of the map. Decompiled maps (aka the ones you get from the .bsp) are really iffy and tend not to work well.
