Custom textures not appearing in Hammer

I know this problem probably gets asked heaps, but I tried searching to no avail.

I've done up some textures for my map, but I haven't a clue how to get them to show up in Hammer. I've got the .vmf and .vtf, but where do I put them, and how do I bring them into hammer?

I corrected the path from DJive's. You have to edit the path in the VMF file.

Lets say in the materials folder you made a folder called MyTextures. In the VMF for the texture there would be MyTextures/**thenameofthevtffilewithoutthefileextension
