Hello tf2maps.

I am looking for some feedback on a couple of custom hats and misc items I am making for TF2.

Please tell me what you think, specifically what you like and don't like. Everything here is WIP.

I must say, I approve of the winged shoes. To make them more noticeable, enlarge them a bit and make them...let's say a golden colour (so they're not solid white like the earbuds).

I don't like the soldier's camo helmet. The netting doesn't look very good, the base color is a little iffy, and I don't think the rank on the front works. I think you can spend some extra polygons on making a net over the helmet and texturing it separately, so that the soldier looks as if he took a random net and threw it over a helmet.

I did try that before I made this. It is way too many polys and pretty much impossible to pull off.

And the texture is in no way final, all of these are more like concepts for the real thing.

Bigger, smaller, or is this a good size?

The size is good; add a touch of light gray, imo.

EDIT: Oh, and I think that a wing on the inside & outside would look more Hermes-like; not sure about how it'd affect the poly count though.

Well, the shoes would have to be some kind of weapon (same goes for the heavy gloves). When people see changes on the character they expect it to have some kind of function. Take a look at the gunboats. I think that's why Valve haven't already made lots of unlockable clothes and stuff. And the heavy gloves would be really annoying to unlock instead of one of the cool hats, since they are so unnoticeable.

I don't really have any ideas for the wing shoes. The scout is already quite fast. Maybe a pistol replacement that leaves a firetrail behind the scout?

why cant it just be a misc. hat? when i see a heavy in a football helmet i dont expect him to be immune to headshots. when i see a scout with the bonk helmet i dont expect him to be constantly invulnerable. your point is silly. make it a misc hat.

But when you see a soldier with the gunboats you expect him to take less rocketjump damage. When you see a heavy with the KGB you expect him to get crit when he kill you

When you see a Pyro with the monocle you don't expect him to be classier. Stop being ridiculous.

Also it needs some sort of Pegasus Boots pun.

I actually meant to use a polygon with the mesh texture on it as opposed to creating every single hole.

Put a third jump ability on this thing and it's a cannon.

I will submit it as a misc unless I can actually think of a good function for it. 3 jumps is way overpowered if you add the fan with it too. And giving it a movement increase with the downside being that you cannot equip a pistol or a drink seems unbalanced too, because I rarely see the regular scout player use either of those. Most of them run around with the scatter or FAN and just run away to reload each time.

Ideas are always welcome ofcourse!

Also, thanks a lot okrag for the 'Hermes' Heels' name, I like it a lot!
