This applies to everyone who owns the second game. The site has kinda dropped out over the last year. Competition from other communities, really lousy custom support, etc. The authoring tools for L4D2 are much improved. You can add zombie paths via Hammer, instead of recompiling the bsp. And there is a separate program for addon support. In short, the current TF2 staff have opted out. So I'm looking for some people interested in custom zombies, to help me bring the community back from the dead (no pun intended). Just send me a pm here or on Steam chat. And drop a line at this thread; http://forums.l4dmaps.net/thread-1092.html

You should put a link to the site from the front page of this site, no visitor would guess we have a sister site otherwise.

I was thinking about a good way to do this, then I remembered that's why half the staff are competent web masters, so I don't have to worry about technical stuff :p

It's worth noting that efforts to bring L4DMaps.net "back from the dead" have been ongoing for a couple of months now. Myself and Corion were recruited by DJive to pump some life into the site and we have gotten the community back up on it's legs.

The biggest thing we need now is to get the site in a more 'finished' state. The release of the updated tools has stirred up interest in L4D mapping, we have to strike now while the iron is hot and get the site in shape.

maybe you've done something to make the l4d mapping community more active, but even a casual browse through the most recent posts in the forums shows that there's a lot of room for improvement. EXAMPLE: last post of any sort in mapping section was 2 weeks ago, last post of any sort in tutorial section was 2 months ago.

Oh there's no denying it needs a lot of improvement. Rome wasn't built in a day sir. The site was flatlined when we came on board. The mapping hasn't been active, but the community has been gaining momentum. We just had a contest and got 11 entries submitted. Things are starting to roll. Now that the proper tools are out we'll see an even larger increase in activity.

I plan on mapping for L4D2 as soon as I can (probably a scavenge map or something), but I don't know when that will be. I am almost always busy with school, but I will see how my second semester is.

I am also thinking of making a prop library for L4D2, kinda like Boojum did for TF2.

What I still don't understand is that valve says that both games are seperate, equal and games in their own right, and yet l4d1 doesn't get the l4d2 content, but l4d2 mappers are getting all of the l4d1 content. [/rant]
