Goddammit can we get these stupic ads off of the site they are pissing me off because whenever you open a page, some dude with a shitty mike says "congradulations you've won"
next time you see this ad, please record and post the url the ad has. this is the only way I can disable these.

Just a question, does using adblocking software somehow reduce the amount of money you make from these ads? I don't use one, but I'm not too sure on how they work anyway, Ads pay you to feature them, right? Do you get payed more if I click on them, or less if I don't even see them?

generally speaking, most ads earn the site money when they are clicked, so...if you don't click them anyways...using an adblocker would likely change very little

not certain this sites ads work like that...but most do

yep, though most ad networks tend to get a bit pissed if they see the same ip repeatedly clicking tons of ads ;)

So by clicking ads, am I supporting the Site?
yes and no. repeated clicks from the same person will probably get the account banned. only click if you're generally interested in the product/service/whatever.

there are 2 networks that are run on tf2maps.net
burstmedia and google adsense. burst media pays about $.50 per 1000 unique views. google adsense pays about $.15 per click.

I got one of the talking ads (not the same one as usual - this one had a longer dialog about a "free $1000 Wal-Mart gift card") and got the URL. Here is the page it links to. Hope that's useful in getting these to go away.

im working on getting rid of the ads altogether, and replacing them with 1 static ad that will hopefully generate more money for the site and help users find products/services when they need to find something.

Excuse the plug, but how about something similar to the system the Backloggery has got set up?

Basically, sign up the site to various affiliate programs (e.g. Amazon, GAME etc. I imagine most internet retailers of video games would have a scheme), then stick the required link into your static banner. Change the links as required (so if, say, Amazon has a good deal on TF2, you can plug it and take a cut of the price).
