An undetailed version of arena_ravine; just waiting for anyone to re-detail and artpass it!

I created this as an easy way to practice detailing a map with an already finished layout. I've found (from experience) that detailing an existing map is quite hard as there are way too many entities to remove by hand before one can even start to detail. This map, however, did not start by removing any entities from Ravine, rather, this has been made from the ground up to be as simple as possible and so as to guarantee that no stray entities or brushes stay in the map.

Notes:
  • The map currently uses sky_tf2_04 as it's skybox and already has a light_env placed (with the light settings of 2fort).
  • The map has been built with a grid of 16 units, this is mostly accurate to the old Ravine, aside from the walls that are in general thicker and a few stairs which have been moved slightly in order to fit this gridsize (i refuse to use gridsize 8 for them). There are a few spots where I've used smaller units to get certain things placed just right and where it wouldn't make sense to use 16. This is mostly accurate to the original.
  • A few important props from the original map have been copied over to this one. The ones i prioritized were props that offered tons of cover or that create places to propclimb up to certain areas.
  • Any area that's accessible or inaccessible on this version is also so in the original.
  • The vmf can be compiled in it's current state without any leaks.
  • While the map does have a light_env, the indoor areas (especially spawn) are very dark in their current state.
  • None of the brushes on the map are func_detail (or any other type of brush entity for that matter) at the start, so this sort of doubles as optimization practice as well lol. I highly recommend func_detailing parts of the map before you try to compile it.
  • Every brush uses the same texture on all faces.
  • Every brush in the vmf was placed by me, aside from two playerclip brushes copied over from a decompiled arena_ravine that i felt were important to gameplay.
  • The arena logic, spawn points and setup doors were taken from the ABS gametype library. All of the gameplay elements work as intended from the get-go.

  • I highly encourage you to experiment with the layout if you fancy and replacing the existing props with something else that's more fitting of the theme you're going for!

If you publish a map using this, credit is required. Especially, if you publish that map to the workshop, add me as a contributor. However, if you're just making something for yourself and maybe just wanna show it to your friends or something, go ham lol! You have all the right to modify this (that's the point after all lol).
